Ethics

Crossover expresses the cardinal principles of medical ethics that it adheres to in its logo and slogan - "Clinical Research for Mankind":

  • Beneficence: “doing good” to test subjects, maximising wherever possible the benefit/risk ratio for study participants
  • Non-maleficence: “not doing harm” while testing subjects
  • Justice: “treating subjects fairly” regarding the distribution of the benefits and burdens of research
  • Autonomy: respect for study participants, particularly the right of every test subject to an independent informed consent

In addition, clinical research must comply with the principles of societal ethics, namely legality and respect for human rights.

All physicians employed by the Crossover Group, including regional offices and Clinical Research Units (CRUs), will abide by the Declaration of Helsinki and, when taking on sponsor responsibilities, by the Guiding Principles for Pharmaceutical Physicians (Guiding Principles for Pharmaceutical Physicians from the Ethical Issues Committee of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK, on the website of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (www.fpm.org.uk), Ethical Issues Committee, Guidance Principles).
